Caleche horse collapses in Old Montreal.
#1
The Caleche  horses in Montreal are controversial and they will be banned by 2019-2020.

However there have been 4 accidents involving the horses since 2014. Will there even be any horses left to ban by the time the ban takes place.

This time a horse has collapsed and died.

Clearly something isn't right if horses are in accidents and they are collapsing and dying on the streets.

Here is a 2017 incident.

Something is wrong if animals are collapsing and dying. Animals used in the tourist industry anywhere seem to have problems.
The key word is used. The animals are used and exploited. We demand too much of them and they can't do it. At some point they just collapse and die.

Banning this tourist attraction is good. Now we need to look at the many other ones where animals are exploited.

I am sad to hear of this. These horses are worked to make money and they are worked beyond their limits. They need to be banned, as obviously people who run this cannot have a proper working partnership with a horse and are incapable of consideration.

They have been pushing for bans for years. The horses are worked too long in all weather. They are not fed and watered during their work day for hours at a stretch. Horses are grazing animals. They need regular food intake and water. Too many horses have collapsed and even died because of this.
I think the days of cute tourist rides needs to end. We know that animals are exploited and we should no longer want to take such rides. It isn't much of a holiday memory if the horse pulling you dies because you wanted a ride.
