Don't use human toothpaste for your dog!
#1
I came across a number  of articles denouncing the use of human toothpaste for dogs.
That leads me to think that this is a problem. It seems that humans are using minty toothpastes, intended for hjmans, to try and combat doggie bad breath. It is a bad idea and it could prove fatal.

I think we should take this seriously. Only use a special dog toothpaste on your dog. Clearly human toothpaste is not safe for them. I would think a special dog toothbrush would be good too. It is better to be safe and not take a chance on your dog's health.

It's hard to believe people are using human toothpaste for dogs! But I suppose there are some people who don't know they really mustn't.
Human toothpaste is not only shockingly unpalatable for dogs, with it's powerful minty taste, it could make them foam at the mouth, plus it does sometimes contain xylitol which is deadly for dogs!

Virbac chicken flavoured tooth paste is good. No it's not cheap. But it is safe and a tube lasts quite a while (much longer than a tube of human toothpaste.) I used that for Misty. And there is usually a double-ended dog toothbrush with the toothpaste so it comes as a kit. One end of the brush is large (for larger dogs or back teeth) and one end is very small (for small dogs or front teeth.)

But just recently I saw an advert for what looks like a really good dog tooth-cleaning product. It is for sale on a website called "Smartocity":

I noticed it is also available on Amazon and ebay. You put a little veterinary toothpaste in the centre, and the rubber ridges clean the dog's teeth as it's being chewed on. Recommended 5 minutes chewing per day.
How you clean it (?) is anybody's guess. Maybe it will be easier to clean than it looks!

I was shocked when I read that people were using human toothpaste. It is so obvious that it would not be good for a dog.

The dog toothpastes at least have flavours a dog might like.
The dog cleaning "toy" looks like it would be an easy way to help a dog keep its teeth clean. I am not sure about cleaning. It would need to be washed very well, regularly. It is not too expensive either.
