A new wildlife bridge.
#1
Washington state has built a new wildlife bridge across its major interstate highway. This is the latest in a series of bridges and underpasses being built to reduce the number of  animal/vehicle collisions and to aid their safe migrations. Animals travel for a number of reasons and it is important that they be able to travel. Building wildlife bridges is the answer.

Everywhere these animal corridors are being built they have been a great success. This an important step in a move towards sharing the environment with animals instead of dominating it. Many animals have made it safely and the countless generations that live because of this will keep some species from becoming endangered.

These bridges are very expensive and I am impressed with the way this one was funded. A local ranch, a number of municipalities and a state grant  all contributed money to the project. Maybe that it the secret to raising funds. They need to come from local and government sources. There are many more bridges that are needed. Hopefully money can be raised for these projects too.

It's a great idea they've done this in Australia as well even built tunnels under the road.

This must be a global idea. It will solve so many problems if we have bridges and underpasses. Where in Australia did they build them?

The Australian bridges have been really successful.  They should make a big difference to the survival of Koalas and many other animals. Everywhere they put bridges and tunnels the animals seem to figure it out. We underestimated them.

I just hope people continue to build bridges where ever wildlife needs help crossing roads.
