Animal Podcasts
#1
I've been listening to a lot of podcasts recently.  My husband and I are in the process starting up our own as well.  My goal is to start it up this year.  It wont be animal specific but I'm sure I will talk about animals at some point.  I'll release more once we have things set up.  Any way I want to share some of the podcasts I've been listening to with lings to listen to them.  The first 2 are from Stuff You Should Know (SYSK).  Josh and Chuck research a topic separately and them record the podcast to teach about that topic.  SO they aren't an animal specific podcast but they do cover animals occasionally.  Can I Pet Your Dog? is a podcast for unapologetic dog lovers (CIPYD).  That's their actual tagline!  They are my favorite animal podcast.  Allegra and Renee are super up beat and love to gush over any dog.

1. Elephants are pretty much the best. Why? Josh and Chuck will let you know in great detail in today's episode.

2. People have believed something strange lives in Loch Ness for at least 3500 years. Thousands of people have sighted the Loch Ness Monster and dozens of expeditions have been launched. But does the fact that nothing’s been found mean it’s not real?

3. Can I Pet Your Dog?  Every Tuesday, dog owner Allegra Ringo and dog wanter Renee Colvert talk to guests about their dogs, discuss dogs they met this week, and brief you on dogs news. They go on assignment to dog events and report back with what you need to know. If there's a dog, they're gonna pet it!
I was listener of the month on this episode! CIPYD 161: Sean Bennett and Dogtober Begins https://www.maximumfun.org/can-i-pet-you...ber-begins
If anyone is on facebook I'll suggest their facebook group called Can I Pet Your Dog?  It is one of the best groups around.  All the member are so great and are contently posting pictures of their dogs.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/10358047...=bookmarks
They even have one for animals other than dogs call Can I Pet Your Pet? https://www.facebook.com/groups/807638262733299/

I have never gotten into podcasts, but I can see that I should be listening to them. I am going to listen to your links when I clean the piggies and feed my animals.

I definitely want to listen to the podcast about dogs.

Let us know when you set up your own podcast. Now you have got me curious about what else is out there in the world of podcasts. I am sure once I start looking I am going to find a lot of things I am interested in. I already catch some shows on YouTube. There is just so much good stuff on the internet.

I got into podcasts a couple years ago because I needed something to keep my mind busy at work.  Shhh don't tell my managers  Smiley4

The thing about podcasts is one leads you to another then that one leads you to another.  I have 60+ now that I've listened to.  I'll just leave links to the ones I listen to the most though.

Can I pet your dog I already mentioned and Stuff You Should Know I already left 2 links in my original so I will skip those but those are both really good.

Maximum Fun is a family of podcasts and I listen to a lot of them but I'll just list my favorites.

The Adventure Zone
My Brother, My Brother, and Me
Bubble
Jordan, Jessie, Go!
There's several I still just haven't gotten to yet.

Parcast is another family of Podcasts.  They focus more on true crime.

Cults
Tales
Serial Killers
Unsolved Murders

A wide range and I could talk about each of them for hours but I listen to The Adventure Zone, My Brother, My Brother, and Me, and Cults the most.  The Adventure Zone and MBMBAM are both made by 3 brothers with the addition of their dad in The Adventure Zone.  Both are explicit but if you can handle the language they are so funny! The Adventure Zone starts off with them playing D&D and the story while being ridiculous at times is really well done.  MBMBAM is an "advice" podcast.  They tell you not to follow their advice and if you listen to it you will understand why.  I crack up with some of their so called advice.  It's like advice spaghetti they throw against the wall and see what sticks!  85  Then there is Cults where they dive into infamous cults and they go over the psychology of what the cult did and how they were able to get followers. The Manson Family is the first one.

Now you are going to groan....laugh....or both at me when I say...
I don't even know what a podcast is or how it works!

I am not much better than you about pod casts. I have never heard one and I wouldn't know where to look for them.

So thank-you Libby for all the links. They will give us a starting point to look into podcasts. If I can broadcast them from my computer  or even better my phone, I could listen to them while I do animal care.

Tobi, I think we do well that we have figured out Netflix and YouTube.

Smiley4 podcasts are really just the way radio has gone.  They are named Podcast because they used to be, some still are, videos that Apple was trying to promote back when iPods first started being able to play video.  They kinda formed into just audio shows like what radio used to be back in the day.

All of these can by played on the computer but Apple makes you download iTunes if you don't already have it on your computer.
For iPhones just go to the App Store and download Podcasts. You'll find all the podcasts I've mentioned by name.
Androids typically already have Play Music and it will have a podcast category (upper left hand corner has the 3 lines. hit that and you'll see the categories pop out.) and same thing you can find most of the podcasts I've mentions by name.
If you don't like those apps there Spotify which is what I used to find most of the links.
My personal favorite on android is Podbean. https://www.podbean.com/start-podcast?gc...IYEALw_wcB

Also depending on your data plan I would suggest downloading episodes to your phone over wifi so you don't blow though your allotted data for the month by accident. I have 10 downloaded at any given time because I listen to them all the time now.  I'm not kidding I could gush for weeks.
Idea As far as learning podcasts the Stuff You Should Know and Stuff You Missed in History Class are great for random knowledge and facts.  Anytime I want to get smart fast I listen to a few episodes and then I can spout random facts.  Smiley16

I  have iTunes on my computer. It is always wanting to upgrade. That is why I like YouTube. It just plays what I want without all kinds of hassle.

I have an android phone and it has Play Music. Good point about the data. I need to use my data for transit alerts and bus locations. I shall look into downloading a podcast and see if I can find a way to listen to it. I do have little "headphones". I would need to use them if I am going to listen to anything on the bus.  The buses are already too noisy. No one wants to hear my pod cast. I know I already don't want to hear their music.
