Wolves vs. Carribou vs. people in Northern B.C.
#1
This is a complicated situation. The caribou numbers are declining. Hundreds of wolves have been killed in a wolf cull that is supposed to save the caribou. However the logging activities in Chetwynd are also contributing to the decline in the caribou.

Clearly killing hundreds of wolves is not saving the caribou. Killing the logging industry puts the town at risk. The caribou are already at risk. I don't know what the answer is.

Is there some way the town can handle the logging differently? Maybe they should explore the idea of ecotourism. People pay to take ecotours. The wilds of northern B.C. are spectacular. I am sure people would love a chance to see the wolves in the wild and the caribou. Something has to change in how they are doing things. The situation now is a disaster for everyone.
