Orphaned bear cubs
Conservation officers in Saskatchewan shot and killed a female bear that was supposedly raiding garbage. She has three cubs. They put a deadline on placing the cubs or they would be killed as well. So they have ended up in a zoo setting.
With a little more time a wildlife sanctuary could have taken them.

I sense that conservation officers lack concern for the survival of the bears. They didn't even try to relocate the mother and cubs. Threatening to kill the cubs should not have been one of their options for them. They should have thought things through and tried to save all the bears. Having taken their mother they should have felt a responsibility towards the cubs and looked at their options better.

Whatever happens now, I hope the cubs are raised properly so that releasing them is a safe option later.
