Utility company cuts down trees with birds nests in them
#1
The Nova Scotia Utility  company is clearing trees along its lines. It has chosen to do so at the peak of nesting season.
There are pictures of a downed tree with an American Robin's nest and spilled eggs visible.
They are calling what happened to the bird's nest as "incidental take". In other words they didn't mean to hurt the birds, but they did mean to cut down the trees. If the birds are in the way it is not their fault.

All they have to do is adjust their tree cutting time a little and no harm would come to any birds, other that continued habitat loss. This shows a callousness towards life and nature. They could have protected the birds, but they didn't want to.

I hope the naturalists on site are able to find other bird nests and protect them before the tree cutters get to them.
One nest of dead baby robins is one too many. Smiley19
