Ode to an African Grey
#1
I came across a story that is worth sharing. Spike was an African Grey Parrot. He was the pet store pet in a small family run pet store in St Albert, Alberta. After 30 years as the store pet Spike has passed away and he is being mourned by staff and customers alike.

African Greys are special and if you ever know one you will never forget it. Spike would have had impact no matter where he lived. As a pet store pet he would have reached so many more people. Small pet stores run by one person or a family often keep store pets. Sometimes they can't bear to part with an animal or it is an older animal being rehomed. Pet store pets have a special life surrounded all day by people who love them.

Spike was one such pet and I know he will be missed. I feel for all the many people who will be missing Spike right now.
They were lucky to have known him and he was lucky to be a store pet.
