Community "rescues" local animal shelter from flood waters
#1
Tropical Storm Barry brought a lot of water and flooding to parts of the USA. The Humane Society of Clarks County was faced with 2-3 feet of flood waters rushing into the building. Overwhelmed by the disaster they put out a call on social meadia for help.
People responded. They showed up and took dogs home to be fostered. A team of volunteers cleaned up the mess and helped sort things out. With so many helping the shelter is on the way to being back in business.
Without the community response the shelter staff could not have cleaned things up so quickly.

This is a wonderful story of how people coming together can do so much. Cleaning up after a flood is a big job. Having many willing hands made it possible. No one person could have taken on the dogs from the shelter, but the response of many people made it possible to help all the dogs. When animal lovers work together they can do so much.
