International Vulture Awareness day
#1
The first Saturday in September is celebrated as International Vulture Awareness Day.  Vultures fill a very key role in the world's ecosystems. As such they should be respected and celebrated for what they do.

Various places have events celebrating vultures.

We keep saying vultures are important. Here are some explanations as to why they are important.

https://www.4vultures.org/why-are-vultures-important/

Vultures are not beautiful and they don't have a pretty song, but without them things would not go well for the rest of the ecosystems
Things will always die. Without vultures to clean up the carcasses there would be a lot more diseases that would spread and kill more animals who would in turn cause more disease. Vultures keep the system clean and healthy for the rest of the animal kingdom.
We must focus on saving them  from the dangers that reduce their numbers and encourage the things that cause them to increase. Without them our ecosystems will not stay healthy. This is a case where conservation not only benefits all of it. Conservation is not optional. It is something we must do for the health of all of us.

Bless Vultures ! They are alright. They do a great job of cleaning up.
Why is it some people dislike Vultures because they eat carrion? Dead animal bodies? And because they are not "cute" like pups or kittens?
Many humans eat carrion,  and many of them are not as cute as pups or kittens!
That is no reason not to like them. Or at least respect and appreciate them. I'm glad we have a "day to celebrate" or at least think and be aware of them ,

I was going to reply that most people eat dead animals, but you beat me to it.
I don't know what people dislike about vultures. Vultures do a lot of good and they are necessary.
Many people dislike insects and insects do a lot of good and they are necessary.
People dislike reptiles and they do a lot of good(they eat the rodents that would destroy our crops) and they are necessary.
People are not so good about sharks either and again they do good in their ecosystem and are necessary.

I am seeing a pattern here. People dislike the creatures that do the serious work of keeping ecosystems healthy.
People like the cute and fuzzy creatures, but they don't  like the cleanup crews that make it healthy for the cute and fuzzy animals.

Vultures deserve to be recognized for the work they do, even if it is only for one day a year.
