Wildlife photographer works to capture the personalities of the animals.

Graeme Purdy, a wildlife photographer, has been working to capture the personalities of the animals he photographs. He has tried to get within 8 feet of them for his latest project so we can really see them and understand them. He also worked with black and white images. He produced very strong images that really show the true animal.

I like the use of black and white. Colour can be a distraction from really looking at the animal itself.
We actually have to look at the animal and see it because the background doesn't stand out enough to hold our attention.

The rest of his images are available in a book called Eight Feet.  I would definitely like to see the rest of them.
I love the lone hippo just standing there. It is not the type of picture we usually see. His face really reaches out and touches us. It is brilliant work.
