Orcas released from Rusian "Whale Jail"
#1
We have posted already about the notorious whale jail in Russia where captive whales were being held in terrible conditions.
The claim is that these whales were captured for educational purposes. The truth is that they were to be sold to aquariums in China.
Environmental groups took out the cause and have pushed for the whales release to the oceans. So far some of the Beluga Whales have been released. Happily the last of the Orcas are now free. That still leaves about 75 Beluga Whales in captivity.

It is going to take more time and pressure to get the rest of the whales released. It is going to take continued pressure to stop them from capturing more whales and doing it all again.

Right now marine mammals are being assaulted in so many ways. They are hunted and killed. They are killed in senseless slaughters. They are captured so they can be sold to use for human entertainment. We need to be aware of this and we need to boycott anything that promotes the abuse of whales and other marine mammals.   In particular we need to support the work of groups trying to free these whales and protect them. These are gentle intelligent creatures. It is so wrong for us to treat them the way we do.  It is bad enough that we are destroying the oceans where they live. Right now as a species we don't look too good.
