What would happen if insects disappeared.
#1
I came across an article with a cute video that asks the question, what if all insects disappeared. Most people have not thought this through. They would love to kill off all insects. The results might not be as good as they think they would be.

This is just speculation, but the amount of effort we make to kill off insects makes it a possibility. What if we discovered the perfect insecticide and it got out there and destroyed all insect life. The time line and the way the loss of insects would effect us might vary, but the results would still be catastrophic. Life on the planet can probably recover from a wide range of disasters. Loss of all insect life would collapse all ecosystems.

Loss of all insects is not likely to happen. That is a bit extreme. What if we managed to kill off 10% or 20% of the insects. How would things be then. What about losing 50%  of the insects or maybe 75%. At what point have we lost too much for insect dependent life to survive.  Just for the record we are insect dependent life.  You might want to think about that before you reach for a can of bug spray.
