The news states that 2300 pigeons were killed and removed along with their feces as part of bridge repair.
I hate the fact that killing the pigeons is seen as part of a bridge maintenance project.

Even if it was done humanely the birds would have been frightened. They have lived on the bridge for generations. They were permitted to live on the bridge. They could have blocked off nesting areas and permitted the birds to move elsewhere. They could have moved the birds to another place. But they were just pigeons and nobody cared. So they just waited and killed them when they were ready to have them gone.
It is a callous regard for life. It judges that pigeons are not valuable life. They could have handled the whole thing differently if they had started with thinking about the pigeons and their welfare first.
