Common pesticide is linked to bird harm
#1
A common neonic pesticide has been linked to the decline of migrating song birds. I am not happy that they fed the pesticide to birds to see its effects. It would have been more ethical to take blood samples from birds and determine their exposure.
We already know the noenicitinoid family of pesticides harms bees. Now it seems they are responsible for the decline of song birds.
The testing was done in Saskatchewan, but the harm will be anywhere that birds are exposed to the pesticides.

Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency has ruled that Neonics  will not be allowed on crops like apples and tree nuts after 2021. Their use will be restricted to certain times on other crops.

I am glad they are going to ban and restrict the use of these chemicals.
Why wait until 2021. If the house was on fire, would we wait until next week to call the fire department?
These chemicals are dangerous. They are harming bees and birds and who knows what else in the environment.
Since we live in that environment and eat food produced in that environment  who knows what harm we are doing to ourselves.

If we won't protect the environment for its own sake we could at least protect it for our own sake.
