Congrats to Calgary Zoo and their new Gorilla
#1
Calgary Zoo has a healthy troupe of Western Lowland Gorillas. In 2016 they lost heir male and the girls have been alone ever since.
At last a young male has been transferred from Atlanta Zoo.  In the next weeks he will be introduced to the females. I am sure they know he is there. Then they can settle into life as normal and have a growing family again.

The  Western Lowland Gorillas are very much an endangered species and zoos have worked hard to maintain a healthy population with lots of genetic diversity. If the species is lost to us in the wild we  still have the chance to save the species and return them to the wild some day when it is safe. This is just one more step in protecting such an important  species from the danger of extinction.
Sadly while the world is the way it is, we need zoos to act around the world as a sort of Noah's Ark. If that is what it takes to prevent the extinction of many species then we have to at least try.

Jasiri looks like a handsome fellow. I am sure the females will love him.
