Hotels for insects
#1
French designer, Marlene Huissoud has produced outdoor sculptures that are designed to be hotels for insects. They are made of natural materials with holes that provide  homes for a variety of insects like solitary bees, wasps and butterflies.
She is responding to the alarming decline in insect life. Insects as experiencing a loss of 2.5 per year of their overall numbers.
Some insects are more at risk, like bees and butterflies, but all insects are experiencing declines.
Her sculptures are meant to be a positive response to the problem.

She is right and she is setting an example for all of us. We need to think of ways to help our insects.
Planting foods for insects is good and of course NO PESTICDES. It also helps to leave places in the garden a little untidy so insects have a place to spend the winter and nest during the summer.

We can also find ways to build hotels. They wouldn't be as fancy as these sculptures, but they could be helpful.

Here are some examples.

I think I should do some building soon.
