Saving the bats in northern Quebec
#1
The Cree Talleymen (Land Stewards) are working with Biologists to protect local bat species in northern Quebec. The little brown bat and the northern long eared bat are both endangered species. The non profit environmental group FaunENord is working with them to identify and enhance bat territories. Also collaborating on the project is the Cree run Nibiischii Wildlife Reserve  that does conservation work in the area.
The bats are suffering from the effects of logging and land development and also a fungal disease called white nose that causes fungus to grow on the bats face.

This is an impressive collaboration between various groups with one purpose in mind, to help save the bats.
Each group brings some skills or resources that can make a difference for bat survival. Together they are able to do so much more.
It is beautiful to sit back and look at people cooperation for a good cause. When we work together we are stronger. I wish them every success in their efforts.
