Reptile Room Updates
#11
They must be doing something wrong with the packaging if both times the connectors are missing.
I hope you get the parts soon so you can set the water dragon up properly.

Nothing is ever simple or a quick fix. The easier it is supposed to be the more likely it is to mess up.
I  can bring home light bulbs from the reptile centre any time. Totally simple. I was at the store all day and brought my snake food home. The light bulbs? I left them at the store and it is after 1am so I can't go back. Just hope nothing burns out because I have no spares.
It was too simple. Smiley4

Saphira is a beautiful Dragon. She has really nice colour. She is also very tame. I like the way she sits on your hand very confidently. She is still fairly young isn't she. It is hard to tell from a picture, but it looks like she has some growing to do.

So how are you doing with her new enclosure. Did they send you all the parts yet?

I wish I had a water dragon. Someday I am sure I will. I hope mine is as pretty as Saphira.

I have her new enclosure up and running.  I still need to add a lot of plants.  I'm hoping I can find what I need at my local nursery.  I got some suggestions from a reptile Facebook group.  I joined and then started noticing a lot of people in the group had Chinese Water Dragons so I knew they could help me out.

That is a big enclosure. Saphira will be able to grow into it and still have plenty of room.
My local nursery is covered in snow right now and all they sell is firewood and Christmas trees.
You are a lot further south. It would be good if you had some real plants in her set up. I think water dragons like real plants.
I can't wait to see how you finally decorate it. You have enough room in there to make it really comfortable for Saphira.
She is one lucky dragon and you are lucky to have her.
Water dragons are so sweet and loveable. Now I really want one.

I wish you many happy years together.

I’m not totally sure what her age is. I think she might have some growing still to do but not much. She’s nearly fully grown for a female. So I’m guessing she’s getting close to two year old. I was able to measure her at 22 inches. And at 14 inches is when you can tell male from the females so I definitely have a female. I just hope Kasey lets me keep her. He’s only mentioned Re-homing her once.

If she is 22 inches then her enclosure is much bigger than I thought. Her tail is amazing. She is in good shape all over.
I hope you keep her. A beautiful water dragon like that is a treasure.
Even if she doesn't get longer she could fill out a bit more.
She is just so relaxed on your arm. You could probably take her out for walks in the summer. She will definitely like your sun room.
She could probably get used to a harness and leash. Or you could just carry her around.

If you were closer I know where you could rehome her to. I know there is a water dragon in my future. Looking at how sweet she is I really want one.

This isn't the exact enclosure I got but it's very similar. You don't want to order from the place I got mine lol.

The enclosure I have is length 48" width 16.5" height 30" So it's a great size for her.

She is so chill when I hold her. Considering she bit the person who rescued her. She must know she's safe now. She will let me just rub and massage her, chest, neck, and back. I think her nose is showing signs if being smashed into glass a lot or it's signs of MBD which I think that back left leg is showing MBD signs but she doesn't let it stop her. I have horn worms right now and I'll put them on her vine and she leaps all over the cage where ever I put them. She sees when I get the container and she readies herself to hunt.

If we were closer I would totally let you have her. I know you would make sure she had a great life. I have one person who might take her but he can't take her until spring because he's moving. I'm just not sure I could let her go after having her that long.

I have seen screen enclosures like that, but I have never seen one that big. You can set it up beautifully and she will have a great life.

If you keep her until spring you will never be able to let her go. She will have already bonded with you and yo with her.
I know you could rehome her easily.  I really wish I could have her but it is too far and it is winter here. It wouldn't be safe to ship a reptile right now. The chance to have such a sweet water dragon is something you shouldn't pass up. A sweet water dragon will happen up here for me and I will have my green beauty too.

Until then, I have Barrie and he is loveable. And you have Saphira and she looks very much at home with you.

Water dragons do rub their faces, but in a big enclosure that shouldn't be a problem. So her face should get better. I hope her leg improves with good feeding and a proper space for her to move around.

The nose rubbing is why I was so adamant about getting her the net enclosure. It just worked out that it was cheaper in the long run. Saphira and KK are headed to the vet tomorrow. I want to make sure KK is still on the right path to getting healthy. I really want her to check Saphira over especially that leg. She doesn’t seem bothered by it because she let me move her leg around and didn’t bat an eye. I got a bunch of plants today for her enclosure too. I haven’t put them in yet because I wanted to spray them off a few times to make sure there’s no mites or funky illnesses because they came from Lowe’s. We had greenhouse nursery but I just found out it closed when I saw they are in the middle of building apartments there now. There’s another nursery but I’m not totally sure where it is. The plants I did find are really nice though. I got two big and two small. One was clearance so I was able to get one of the big ones for the same as a small.
