Good news for Chinese bears
#1
I think we have talked about bear-bile farming and how cruel it is. It seems that there is hope. One place is being shut down as a bile farm and the whole thing turned into a bear sanctuary.

After everything the bears have been through, they deserve to live in peace and plenty for the rest of their lives.

I hope this is the beginning of the end for a terrible industry.

That is good news. Let us hope it is the beginning of the end of the 'bear bile' industry.

There does seem to be a glimmer of light in Chinese attitudes towards the place and treatment of animals generally.

I am seeing change. It is happening in bits and pieces, but once a society becomes aware of animal cruelty, change has to come. Deep down inside most people are not comfortable with cruelty.

If one group stops farming bears for bile and turns the whole thing into a sanctuary, then other groups stand out as being unacceptably cruel.
As always, I wish the change would come soon, but we can at least have hope that the change to caring about animals is coming some day.

Someday people will look back at things like bear bile farming and wonder how we could ever have condoned such actions. I don't understand it either.
