In 2019 Iceland Hunted No Whales!
#1
That's right, Iceland did not hunt whales in 2019. Whale hunting is declining in popularity. Less people are eating whale meat. Tourists who come to see the whales  no longer stop and eat whale meat after. Even Japan is not buying the meat from Iceland like it used to, so there is no market for the whale meat.

Attitudes are changing. People are understanding the oceans differently. They are seeing to role of whales in the ecosystem differently.
This could be the end of whaling in Iceland. If Iceland changes then we can hope it will influence the other countries that still kill whales. This may be the beginning of the end of the whaling industry. They could have hunted whales and they didn't.

The most important whaling story of the year is the fact that they didn't do any whaling. Keep not doing it and I am sure more ecofriendly tourists will come.
