Blue Whales are the largest creature on the planet and they were hunted almost to extinction. In an effort to save the whales there have been bans on whaling. It's working!
This year's whale count off of Antarctica has seen an unbelievable number of Blue Whales.
There were even more Humpback whales.

It is good to see that our conservation efforts are having good results. We nearly destroyed the whales and now they are coming back.
It may take many years, but it is worth it, if we can see the oceans alive with the gentle blue giants. This should give us hope for our conservation efforts in other areas. If we give them a chance many species could recover.
