Oil drilling in the arctic burries polar bears alive in their dens
#1
Oil drilling in the arctic is having a negative effect on many things. One particularly nasty side effect is the damage it does to polar bears. The drilling and the maintenance disturbs the bears when they need to be in their dens. They also fail in their detection of dens and bears risk being buried alive as they hibernate. Sometimes those are bears with cubs. So those cubs might never have a chance to leave the den and have a life.

We already know that the use of fossil fuels is harming our planet. The actual drilling for oil is causing its own particular harms.
It is a fragile environment. Life is harsh and there is no room for mistakes or extra hardships. The oil companies create extra hardships and bring trouble to arctic animals. In this particular case, burying polar bears alive in their dens, is particularly nasty, even for an oil company. Usually they just kill things by polluting their water. We knew that if they started drilling in the arctic, things like this would happen. On so many levels this is wrong. We must move away from the use of fossil fuels and we must move away from anything that harms animals like this. If what you are doing buries animals alive, you know it is the wrong thing to do.
