Animal Activists and Marine Park work together for dolphins sake
#1
The Dolphin Marine Conservation Park in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales has been hit hard by the corona virus (as have we all) and they need to make changes. Action For Dolphins and World Animal Protection have proposed with the Marine Park to house the parks 3 dolphins in a sea sanctuary built in Coffs Harbour. The dolphins were captive raised and would not survive in the wild. Leaving them in small pens for the rest of their lives is not a solution. The sea sanctuary would give them more room and more natural lives.  The sanctuary could continue to be a tourist attraction so the Marine Park would benefit.

Now they just need to complete the plans and raise the money to build it.

Sea sanctuaries seem to be the only solution for marine mammals that have been captive raised  or who have been out of the wild too long to survive.
Banning captive whale and dolphin shows is the first step to stopping the exploitation of marine mammals. Sea sanctuaries are the next step. They provide a place for the captive sea mammals to live out their lives. They are as close to the wild as these creatures can handle safely and they are far different from the pens they have been held in all their lives.  I hope they are able to raise the money to build this one.
