Do animal crossings work? Yes!
#1
A lot of work has been done to create animal crossing points along highways. Some are over passes and some are tunnels. There are different designs and locations.  Studies have shown that animals are using them to cross the roads safely.

The first animal crossing was built in Banff Alberta in 1997. It worked. Since that time more crossings have been built along that stretch of highway.

Banff is a real success story. There are now 6 overpasses and  38 underpasses. Animal/vehicle collisions have been reduced by 80%.
Other places have looked at the results and built wildlife crossings of their own. If we can keep up this trend we can save countless wildlife from deaths on our roads. We can restore the flow of animals through out an area, something that is essential for the health of a species in an area.
In some cases animals must cross a road to reach a nesting area or a feeding area.  Even if animal crossing are expensive they are worth it.
The benefits to an ecosystem are numerous. Reducing the number of animal/vehicle collisions is beneficial to us too.

Not only do they work, they also benefit all of us. So we need to build more crossings where ever there are animals who face danger every time they have to cross the road.
