Condor Sanctuary caught in California wildfire
#1
The  California wildfires have done so much damage. I am sure wildlife has perished.
Sadly the California Condor Sanctuary was in the path of the fire and it has been destroyed.

There is a web cam on the nest and the sanctuary. You can see the little guy alive as the fire approaches. They just don't know if he made it.

This article has pictures of the condors. They are amazing birds. They are so big. I have seen on, but I have never seen one in flight. It must be amazing.

This article is more recent. Still no word on the four missing birds. We can only hope they survived.

It is heartbreaking to watch a sanctuary burn like that.
I can't imaging what it was like to watch the web cam and not be able to do anything to help. We just have to hope Iniko is found safe and alive and his parents are safe and alive and able to return to him.

Here is the latest on the Condors. They just don't know who survived yet.

We just have to hope now that there is good news. I do  hope the chicks survived. They were so vulnerable in their nets.
I check every day to see if there is any word.

This is the most recent article I could find.

Yes the birds are missing, but no one has been able to search for them. There is hope that they have survived. Even the chicks might have survived.
All we can do is wait for news of the birds and hope the fund raising to rebuild goes well. Too much work has gone into saving the Condors to give up now.
