Rock stacking threatens endangered species
#1
First, what is rock stacking?  Well you ask. It is literally stacking rocks. More precisely it is yet another internet sensation, this time on Instagram.
People gather stones in environmentally sensitive areas and stack them up in a delicate balancing act. All this is to impress people on Instagram.
The stacks might be beautiful in some ways, but there are too many and they are now causing damage.

What looks like a harmless pastime becomes a problem when too many people do it.
It is  like everything else we do as humans on this planet. One piece of litter or one discarded piece of plastic is not going to do too much harm, but we always repeat things a million times. If you add to that out desire for social media attention and it is a disaster in the making.  We go from one internet fad to another and they each have their own peculiar damage that they do. Selfies with baby animals like dolphins have cost animals their lives. Now we are disturbing the lives and habitats of vulnerable animals. No doubt animals will die.
Who knows what the next phenomena will be, but I am sure it will cause harm to something. We just can't seem to leave well enough alone.
Look, but don't touch should be the first thing we learn as children. Leave the environment alone so that others who call it home can survive to still call it home.
