Dog rescued from ice chunk in the middle of a river

Somehow an escaped dog ended up on a chunk of ice in the middle of a river. Fortunately someone saw her and called 911. A team of first responders showed up and  they brought her to safety. The video is good. They calmly sent one of their team out to the ice chunk, Once he had the dog, they pulled him back to safety.
Lola has since been reunited with her family.

I can understand how a dog could slip out. I just can't see how she ended up on the ice. If she couldn't get to safety then how did she get there in the first place.
Good thing she was spotted in time. Ice is not very stable, especially this time of year. It was nice to watch how they rescued her. The river wasn't that deep, but it would have been too much for the dog to swim in now that the weather is cold. I am glad it ended well with Lola returned to he family and everyone safe.
