The Ivory Billed Woodpecker is not extinct
#1
The Ivory Billed Woodpecker is a very elusive bird. There have been few sightings over the years and even fewer confirmed sightings. They are so elusive that they were declared extinct, but they have been seen.

They are a remarkable bird and they don't trust humans, so they don't want to be seen.  We can try and try to find them, but they take off as soon as humans show up.
I saw a documentary about 15 years ago where they wanted to find the bird. None of the images they got were good enough for actual identification.
We still believed in the bird and believed that it was still alive. It seems we were right. We did see the bird and it still lives.

This is a hopeful sign for many other elusive species that have not been seen lately. There is always a chance that they are alive out there.
