An old dog's last happy days
#1
This true story is from a few years ago, but was recently 'bumped up' on the Care2 pages, as it was so moving.

http://www.care2.com/causes/15-year-old-...tml?page=1

Don Hill, about to leave his deceased mother's home after her passing, discovers an injured and neglected old dog who has wandered into the front yard. The level of this dog's neglect indicates many years of abuse.
He looks as if he might not have long to live. Don drives him home, and gets veterinary care for him. The dog, now named "Roadie" gets better. Aged about fifteen, he goes on living another seven months, with happiness, fun, love and care, perhaps for the first time in his entire life.

A beautiful story. Heart

What a wonderful story. Even though Roadie didn't have a lot of time left, he certainly had quality time. Whatever he went through in his life, he certainly ended it well.
Don Hill is right, Roadie rescued him as much as he rescued Roadie.

Isn't it wonderful how such a chance encounter brought such a memorable experience to everyone involved.Heart

Both caretaker and dog gained so much from knowing and loving each other. A very touching story.

Sometimes life offers a chance to do something for another and what really happens is something good in our lives.
I have never regretted adopting an old animal and giving it a good last days. It has always been a wonderful experience.Heart
