Pets "orphaned" by the pandemic
#1
One of the side effects of the pandemic is the pets who lose their owners or whose owners are left too ill to care for them.
It is a sad reality for many pets. Fortunately some pet owners have signed up for the Pet Guardian Program. The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
has a Pet Guardian Program. Many pets are now benefitting from this. They are looked after right away and they are placed in suitable homes.
Given the risks we all face, making a provision like this is a responsible thing to do.

There are other places that have pet guardian programs. If that is not available it would make sense to find a friend/ family member who would commit to look after your pets if you were no longer able to do it.  Our pets are totally dependent on us. If there is a danger that we might not be able to be there for them, we should find some way to provide for our pets in our absence. It is something worth looking into. Knowing you had made plans would make one less worry during worrying times.
