A Beaver in the subway station
#1
An early morning commuter got a surprise when he entered the subway station. There was a beaver sitting there on the stairs. The station had to be closed while the situation was dealt with. The beaver was easily captured and returned to the nearby river where he was seen happily swimming away.
It is believed that the beaver entered through the automated entrance. That entrance is closer to the river. Of course being under twelve, the Beaver could  travel for free.

Animals in Toronto have figured out how to use the automated entrances to subway stations. If they approach the doors they will open and the animal can walk right in.  Pigeons that are too small to trigger the doors so they just wait for human to come along and follow them in. Raccoons just walk right in.
You have to wonder why the beaver was out of the water and near a subway station in the first place. Did he wander in or was he exiting after traveling from another station. Again, why? I understand the pigeons and raccoons taking the subway. They find lots of food.  What was the beaver looking for.  Maybe he has friends at High Park. It is just a few subway stations away. Maybe he came from High Park and was looking for the river.

He was our first subway beaver. I wonder if he will be our last.
