Old fire hoses donated to zoo to make toys for animals
#1
A fire department in Quebec collected old fire hoses for the Granby Zoo. The keepers use the hoses to weave baskets and balls and put up swings for the various animals. They are strong and sturdy and can stand up to elephants and baboons.

Who would have thought that old fire hoses had a further purpose. The animals love them. They can be used in various ways with different animals. The primates love to swing on them. They can be moved around to create  new exercise possibilities.  As baskets and balls the hoses can hide treats and create fun for the animals who find the treats.  I am sure they are lots of things we can find to recycle and repurpose. Zoos also like old Christmas trees and pumpkins.
Maybe zoos could find a use for all the tons of Amazon boxes that are piling up around us. It is a thought.
