What happened to class pets during the pandemic
#1
Most schools have been closed because of the pandemic. Classes have been done online, virtually.  There is one part of the classroom that can't be done virtually. The class pet has to be looked after in real time by a real person who is actually there. Different teachers found different solutions. Some pets were taken home be the teacher. Some were fostered by various students. In some cases the teacher has to return to the classroom regularly to care for the pets.

This is a side of the pandemic I never thought about. Students and teachers are working to adapt  to the new circumstances. What about the pets. They are used to a classroom full of students all wanting to care for them and spend time with them. Now at best they are in one persons home. Some are alone in a classroom with someone visiting them now and then. Some of the pets won't care, but many will be feeling loneliness and abandonment.  I hope all the class pets make it through this. They are just one more group that is struggling to cope with the pandemic. They are a very forgotten group.
