Tortoise rescue
#1
There is a dedicated group of Humane Society people that go out to future housing developments and dig up the Gopher Tortoises form their burrows. If they are not rescued, they will be trapped in their burrows by all the construction and will die slowly.

The tortoises did not ask to have a housing development built over their land. They were there first. We just assume land is empty because we cannot see who lives there.
Three cheers for the rescuers.

Thank goodness there are people around who will do this. Just because no people live there doesn't mean the land is empty.
As you say, Three Cheers for the Rescuers!!
Greeting from Wales.

This is the web site of the rescue I volunteer at.

It's really great that these people are doing this for the tortoises. Like Cibach said....just because people don't live there doesn't mean there are no worthwhile inhabitants!

It just seems so heartless that they would pave over tortoise burrows and leave then to die. If it were not for the rescues, that is what would happen.
