Dogs on a clean up mission
#1
It started with people leaving garbage. Alex van Eck decided to start cleaning up. Then he got his dog Joy involved. She would collect the empty plastic bottles.
He took on another dog and soon Bas was helping in the clean-up, specializing in cans.
This led to creating a non profit group called Enjoy Cleaning Up. The idea is to walk your dog and do clean up at the same time. With training the dog becomes part of the clean up crew. The cleaning becomes fun because it is part of a walk with your dog.
The idea has spread and over 500 dog owners in 12 countries have signed up to be part of this movement.

This is the kind of local movement I love to hear about. It starts small and does good in its own area. Then it spreads and the local good is now taking place in many areas. It is many people doing a bit of good in their own area that can add up to a global impact. It reminds me of the saying, Think Globally, Act Locally.
Getting the dogs involved is an added bonus.
