From Texas to Windsor Ontario...80 dogs flown to new lives in Canada
#1
This is the largest rescue flight the Windsor Essex County Humane Society has ever done. They have flown 80 dogs from El Paso Animal Services to Windsor.
The Texas shelters are crowded. Many of the dogs have been there for months even a year. There is little hope of adoption. In Windsor there are foster homes waiting and people wanting to adopt dogs. It won't take long to find these dogs forever homes.
It took a lot of planning to arrange this flight. Medical records had to be in order and dogs needed up to date vaccinations.
It was all worth it because the dogs are here now. They will be cared for and adopted out when they are ready. For 80 dogs it is a chance at a life outside an animal shelter. It is a chance to be a much loved pet.

These flights of dogs are the greatest idea for helping rescue dogs. Some areas have too many dogs and some have too few. It just makes sense to send the extra dogs to places that need and want them. There is no need for an over crowded shelter to have to euthanize healthy animals. There are shelters out there that are willing to take the extra dogs. There are people willing to transport the dogs. The dogs are happy with the moves. How does a Texas dog feel the first time he sees snow in Canada? It turns out they love it. They are happy to be out of a shelter and into a home.  It doesn't matter to them where it is.
So for 80 dogs life has just gotten better.
