Groups team up to neuter Bell Island cats in massive TNR weekend
#1
First, Bell island is a small island off of the Avalon peninsula of south east Newfoundland, Canada. And yes, I had to look it up because I have never heard of it either. Their feral cat population is out of control. So, Bell Island Cat Rescue teamed up with Avalon Animal Hospital to hold a Trap Neuter Release event. They rounded up 110 cats. Sadly two were so ill they had to be euthanized. One was adopted by a clinic technician.  One hundred and seven healthy neutered cats were returned to Bell Island to live out their lives in peace, but not to keep multiplying.

If a small island like that had over 100 feral cats, then they are right, their cat population is out of control.

Looking at the pictures, I wonder how cats are able to survive on an island like that.
It is tremendous that they are able to get TNR programs going in places like this. It is commendable that the bigger animal hospitals, like Avalon Animal Hospital participate in the program. They neutered cats from two there locations on the same weekend. Well done AAH.
