Newly discovered Australian Millipede has over 1000 legs
#1
This newly discovered millipede really does have 1000 legs. Some had over 1300 legs. That is a world record, the most legs for any animal in the world.  It was discovered underground, some specimens as far down as 60 meters. Millipedes are very ancient animals and are among the earliest to breath atmospheric oxygen.
A number of specimens were  discovered and the species is being studied.

The would be an amazing creature to see. I am wondering who had the patience to actually count all the legs.
We are still discovering new things. We think we understand life on this planet, but there is life out there that we have never seen before.
I hope we get to see these creatures and understand them without driving them to extinction.
