Australia lists Koalas as endangered
#1
Koalas have been listed as vulnerable, now they are being listed as endangered. This is a very good thing. In the last few years because of things like wildfires, the Koala population has declined drastically. It is estimated that the population has declined 30% in the last 3 years.  As many as 60,000 Koalas were killed or injured in the 2019-2020 bushfires. This designation and serious conservation efforts give them a chance of survival.

Knowing how much danger Koalas are in and knowing how many were lost in the fires, is terrifying. We could lose one of the cutest animals on the whole planet.
Whatever it takes we need to save the Koalas. If saving their habitat just happens to save the species that share that habitat, that is even better. Sometimes an iconic species like a Koala can do a lot for the less popular species. First we need to make sure the Koalas survive.
