Increase in pet selling scams during the pandemic
#1
There has been an increase in pet selling scams in the last year. People were desperate to get pets so scammers had easy targets.
Scammers show a picture of a pet. They sometimes offer it at a too good too be true price. There is always an urgency. The money has to be paid now, in advance before you even see the pet. There is no pet and the money is lost.
Or worse the pet is not what is expected or else it is very ill and needs expensive vets care.

Pet scams are like any other scam. The price is always a real bargain, but it has to be paid for right away. It is always urgent and you don't get to see the pet first.
When we really want something, sometimes we don't think before we act.

A friend on mine got a real bargain on a 7 year old pure breed dog. It was an amazing price.
The dog wasn't seven, he was closer to 14. Also he died of cancer withing the month. So someone with a dying dog made a little money and avoided caring for their dying dog. The signs were all there, but my friend really wanted a dog. He was a sweet old dog, but he only lived another month.

Buying a pet online is like buying anything else online. We need to be careful and check out the site that is selling the pet. Never pay money for a pet you have never seen. If we were all cautious we could put the scammers out of business.
