Stadium closed because of covid, now overrun with feral cats
#1
The Oakland Coliseum has been closed for many months because of covid. Now that it is reopening, they have found that the few stray cats that were around, have now become a large feral cat population. The good news is the rat population is way down.
They are going to try and capture the cats and take them to a shelter in hopes of getting them homes.

This increase in feral cats could be a problem for a number of buildings that have been closed. Anywhere that provided food and shelter, is a perfect place for stray cats to multiply. After a couple of generations, the cats are really feral. They have no connection to humans.
I suspect a lot of places that are opening up will discover feral cats have multiplied. Abandoned buildings have the same problem.
That is more complicated if the plan is to demolish the buildings. Many feral cats are not able to adjust to living with people.
Places have to be found where feral cats can live safely and be cared for. I hope it can be done humanely.
