Wildlife photographer has close encounter with Meercats

A wildlife photographer in South Africa  had a very close encounter with Meercats. He was warmly greeted by them. When he lay down on the ground, they even climbed on his head to use it as a lookout. He couldn't exactly take any pictures, but the shots of him covered and surrounded by meercats are worth it.

The meercats look so funny sitting on his head. I know they always want to have a lookout, but I never would have expected them to sit on someone's head. I would have expected them to choose a rock or a log.
They really are such curious little creatures. That must have been a fun encounter.
