BC SPCA rescues animals from a hoarder
#1
The BC SPCA was called in to rescue animals from a trailer. There were 120 cats and three dogs all living in horrible conditions. The floors were covered in urine and feces. The animals had no water and little food. The food was on to floor and too contaminated to eat. All the animals are in bad shape and they require a lot of care.
Sadly another 130 cats were found in freezers out side the trailer.

This is a really sad situation. Many animals have died and the rest are suffering. The person probably started out thinking they were helping the animals.
At first they might have been helping. Then the numbers of animals got too many and and there was no way to look after them. If only someone could have helped before things got so bad.

For now the animals are being cared for and hopefully they will recover. Someday they could all be living in clean, loving homes.

We have seen so many of these hoarding cases over the years. Sadly, there seems to be no end in sight. They just go on and on.

This seem to be happening all over. It is cats and dogs mostly, but other animals as well. If only we could understand why. I know many cat hoarders start out wanting to protect the cats. Then the numbers get so high that the cats end up suffering.  When does 3 strays become 100 and how does a person not notice this is happening.
Some people taking in animals end up opening a shelter. They get others to work with them and they find homes for the animals when they can. Hoarders keep the cats to themselves in their own home. They are often very secretive about it. They start thinking they are the only ones who can care for the cats. In reality the cats are badly neglected. They are dirty and they are barely getting fed. There is something wrong in the hoarders perception of reality. What they see and what is happening are not the same thing. If only we could stop someone before they have a freezer full of dead animals.
