386 Dogs rescued on the way to Yulin
#1
It is time for the Yulin Dog eating festival again. Activists have been working hard to find ways to stop the slaughter. When they encountered a truck full of dogs they reported them as a health/safety issue. The dogs would not have medical certificates or be inspected properly. It worked and the dogs are now being quarantined with an animal welfare association.
Work to stop the festival is ongoing. It has been reduced greatly and it is mostly locals who are involved. Outsiders no longer come to the festival.

It seems odd to call it a festival. It is a nasty animal slaughter, where the animals get eaten. It is not a cultural, traditional event. It has made money for people in the past. If it becomes unprofitable it could die out. Certainly if they can stop the dogs from arriving, the activists will have done a lot to end this animal cruelty event.  As always, we hope this is the last year for Yulin. At least we can count on it being a reduced festival.
