Don't prune your hedges in the summer
#1
There are some good gardening reasons for not trimming hedges in the summer. The real reason you shouldn't do it is nesting birds. If you prune hedges at the wrong time you can disturb  nests of baby birds. Even if there isn't a bird's nest in sight, there are birds around that could be scared away from their nests.

This is good thinking. Whatever we do to our gardens we should think about how it will effect local birds. Most things can wait until fall when the birds are not nesting and the babies are ready to manage on their own anyhow. It just takes a little thought and consideration on our part.
