Rescued baby skunks turned green.

Sadly a mama skunk was killed on the road. For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue was up for the job oof rescuing her babies. In the end 6 baby skunks were saved.
They are thriving on the care they are receiving. They have food, they have toys and a safe place to live and grow before they are released. One morning when someone came to check on them they had green fur, bright green fur.  It took some time to realize one of their new toys, a grass hut, had green dye. The dye is harmless and edible. The skunks didn't eat it, they splashed in their water and played in their hut. The green dye soaked into their wet fur. It has taken weeks, but it is fading. Hopefully it will be gone by their release date.

Oddly the little skunks don't seem to be reacting to the colour change. They might not notice their own fur, but wouldn't they notice that their siblings are green.
Maybe skunks don't care about colour. They are so cute and the green just makes them cuter.
It would be funny to release them while they are still green. There would be some funny stories of people claiming to see green skunks and no one else believing them.
