Puppy poisoned by apricot kernels
#1
A dog breeder was delivering a puppy to Toronto and she brought her own dog along for company.
The golden retriever, Subaru got into a bag of apricot kernels. She ate quite a few. Fortunately her owner recognized the danger and was close enough to Toronto to get har to the emergency vet clinic. Apricot kernels contain cyanide. It doesn't take much cyanide to kill a dog. Subaru was in trouble, but fast recognition of the symptoms and fast action by the vet were enough to save her.

A number of fruits have cyanide in their seeds. It is always better to be very careful and not let a dog or any other pet get at the seeds of these plants.
When the poisoning happened they were close to medical help. If they had needed to drive for an hour to get to a vet, it would have been to late.
