Racing industry fails to rehome greyhounds
#1
The Australian dog racing industry is in the news again. Just over 2000 dogs were rehomed in a year, but the number of dogs produced in a year was many times higher. That means many dogs will not be rehomed. Many dogs are not being named which means they cannot be traced.
There is no record of what happens to them.
Allegations of live baiting have arisen as well.

These problems are nothing new. Over the years many dogs have been produced only to be culled. People have been caught live baiting.
The whole greyhound industry everywhere  is full of problems. It is not structured to benefit the animals. They work at improving things, but for the dogs it never gets better. So few are actually adopted. Unfortunately it is a money making industry and as such it is more likely to continue no matter how the dogs are treated.
