Hummingbird fails to fly south, so he travelled by car.
#1
A little Rufous Hummingbird is Prince George, BC hung around enjoying the unseasonably warm fall. All the other hummingbirds had long gone. They flew south to warmer places for the winter. Local bird watchers were worried. When the weather turned suddenly cold the little hummingbird was in real danger.
So, they set up a feeder in a cage and waited 14 hours until he was inside, and they could close the door and trap him. Then they did the only thing they could do.
They got in a car and drove him 500 kilometers south to Vancouver. He was safely released, and it is hoped he will return to Prince George next summer.

What a beautiful story. One tiny little hummingbird and the people did everything to save him. That was not an easy highway to drive either.
I hope the hummingbird returns and they are able to see him again. At least they know they gave him a chance.
